America is very fucked up place
but there are good things about it
it is like we have become masters of good self-delusion
positive thinking even if it insane
but that insane positive thinking can be good
last night on some news channel, I wasn't really paying attention, I was at someone else's house and the show was on:
A white lady came on and said, 'Don't think about your job loss as something horrible, don't think of your foreclosure as something horrible. Think about it as an opperturnity. That you get to change your life, go on craiglist, look up jobs in places where you've always wanted to move. Look up jobs you've always wanted to do. Maybe your job pays more somewhere else and you didn't even know it. Your life isn't over, a new one has just begun."
This is shit only Americans can say with a staight face.
I don't know, maybe other countries do this.
But I can't see that happening in Brazil or China or Russia.
In other countries it is like, "We need to start political factions to combat this situation."
In America, "Hey, we lost our jobs. Lets move to somewhere and start all over again because where live now sucks."

yeah that's pretty true but, i mean, i guess that works in our favor sometimes and it is something migrant workers face day in and day out. lose a job, it's ok, move on, and get a new one. it is a decidedly American viewpoint, blind optimism that is, but, you can't really fault the American people for thinking like so for it (blind optimism) is a product of their unique situation as a part of the American system.
if people from Brazil, wherever, came to America, I could see them assimilating to a similar way of thinking..
Idiots who talk on TV about how one should see job loss as opportunity, ugh.
A decade or so of trickle down theory & downsizing, & for every job gained after loss, it's usually for less pay. Add the current layoffs to the mix of how to fuck over the american worker etc.

I think every nationality is equally stupid. It just seems that Americans are worse because that's where you live, that's where most of your media exposure comes from.
People who say job loss is an opportunity obviously didn't lose their job.
